Interested in how you can make money from anywhere in the world?
Well before you read any further I have to let you know that like pretty much anything else in this world – you have to put in a bit of work before you get something back, this is not a get rich overnight scheme. But you CAN do it.
If you want to make a bit of extra money while you are traveling or overseas, or if you just want to know more about how to make some extra passive income then keep reading because in the next 3 minutes I am going to tell you how both myself, and my business partner stumbled upon starting an online business and it cost us NOTHING.
Let me tell you a story.
I teach Business English in Japan – I have been living here for a couple of months, before this I taught Business English in China.
One day at work I was asked by my colleague Masami;
‘Jason – you only work 2 hours or so a day – what do you do with the rest of your time?’
ME: Well Masami, my friend and I have a few websites and we are building our Internet business.
MASAMI: Really that sounds cool – how do you know how to do that? Did you study it at university? Do you make money? What do you sell?
ME: Well actually I didn’t really study it and we don’t really sell anything.
MASAMI: I don’t understand
ME: Well let me explain it like this – we are the people who sell the house – kind of like an estate agent but it is a lot less complicated. All we do is connect people who want to buy with people who want to sell and we get a commission.
MASAMI: I use the internet everyday – and I never knew it worked like this.
ME: Neither did I until I started it.
MASAMI: How did you know how to start?
ME: Well to cut a long story short my friend introduced me to an online training community called The Wealthy Affiliate University.
This is a true story.
Let’s rewind a bit.
I moved to Osaka Japan from Shanghai China with my wife (she is Japanese) because we were having our first child.
A few months ago my friend Alex called me on Skype – he had just moved to Oxford England as his girlfriend is doing her masters there. Previous to this they had been living in Vietnam. We spoke for a while about old stuff – but then basically got onto the common subject of work and earning money – at that time Alex and I were still looking for work in our new countries.
We chatted for a while and then Alex asked me If I had heard of Affiliate marketing – it was something he was just getting into and explained to me that it was a good way to earn a passive income living abroad – as all you need is an internet connection and a computer. Well with a new -born baby – I was definitely interested in making some extra money and for the first time in my adult life I needed to start looking seriously at the future. I had heard of internet marketing before and other ways to make money from the internet but never really knew how.

Today I would like to share with you how I went from searching for another teaching job to starting an online business and having the freedom to choose to work when and where I want to from anywhere in the world!
My girlfriend and I had just finished an incredible two years in Hanoi, Vietnam and were gearing up for our new destination – England! Not my first choice (it’s COLD in England) but still a great experience all the same. Anyway, there I was, back on the net searching for my next teaching position in the “sunny” countryside of the UK.
Well, long story short, I could not find a teaching position! But, what I did find was something that has changed the way I look at my life.
I have been living, working and travelling abroad for over 4 years in countries such as France,Turkey and Vietnam and although I love teaching (I’m a primary school teacher and swim teacher), it seemed like I was always searching for the next job in a new country!
Then I realized.
What if I never had any ties to any job? What if I could work from anywhere? What if I never had to worry about ‘finding’ a new job in a new country?
This would be the BEST way to live my lifestyle abroad!!

How to start an online business
I am not someone who takes things lightly and am generally quite skeptical, so I spent the summer (as I did not have a job!) researching and reading and finding out if this was possible? Well all I can say is after all of that hard work – yes, it is.
Since joining wealthy affiliate university (this is where I learnt everything to start my online business) I have never looked back and now have the freedom to live, work and travel anywhere I want, whenever I want!

Well there you have it – this is our story, working together on this project has been great because as you may realize this is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Building an online business is a process, you get out what you put in, it can take time to build up your site and see results. However, it can come faster than you think! If you keep at it – the results WILL COME.
So I hear you ask …… How do I get started??
Well there are a lot of websites that claim to know how to get you started and help you on your way to earn some cash online. But as in every business, there are of course a lot of scams. You need to beware of the HYPE. You may have heard of people who make millions of dollars every month online? Well as you and I both know or can assume – that is (mostly) BS.
You can indeed make a lot of money – it is possible for you to give up your day job and you can live your dream BUT if you are going to start an online business – you need to put in a little effort. The great thing is that this effort can be focused on your interests and you are consistently building your own business with the freedom to work when you want and where you want.
First thing – find something you are interested in – this is your best chance at succeeding.
You like coffee? Start up a site on coffee – review a few coffee shops, home coffee makers, inform people, connect people – help people. Before you know it you will be connecting potential buyers with sellers and making commissions. It is that simple.
